NEWS:  Thronateeska Kennel Club is dissolving.

After serving the sport of pure-bred dogs for more than 50 years we have found it necessary to dissolve the club.  It was not an easy decision for our members to make but it was a decision that had to be made.  Thronateeska Kennel Club will be no more.

Located in Albany, GA, this club held it's first show in 1958.

Some of the objectives of the club are to further the advancement of all breeds of pure-bred dogs, protect and advance the interests of dog shows, obedience trials, and encourage sportsmanlike competition at such events, and to conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, obedience trials, and any other event for which the Club is eligible under the Rules and Regulations of The American Kennel Club.

All exhibitors, handlers, trainers, spectators, etc. are encouraged to join and actively participate in their local kennel clubs.  It's a way to give something back to the sport.  Think about it --- How many shows or competitions would there be for us to compete in or spectate at if it weren't for the efforts of the many dedicated folks who comprise the many kennel club's around the globe?

Meetings:

Club meetings are the first Tuesday of each month.  Meetings are held at Moe's SW Grill on Dawson Rd in Albany.  Meetings begin at 7:00 pm but be there by 6:30 pm to eat/socialize.

Board meetings are the third Tuesday of February, April, July, September, October, and November.

Our most recent events:

Sept 06, 2008, 10 am 'till 3 pm,  Responsible Pet Ownership Appreciation Day.  This AKC local event is sponsored by our club and recognizes pet owners for the loving care they give to their pets.  Door prize registration is from 10 am - 12pm. Micro-chipping is from 11 am - 2 pm. Hot "Dog" Bob is 11 am & 2 pm.  Costume contest at 12:30 pm.  "Meet The Breeds" is from 10 am - 3 pm.  Agility and Obedience Demo's are 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, & 2 pm.  Pet CPR Demonstrations are at 11:30 am & 12 pm.  Location:  Yellow Dog Kennel, 1531 Liberty Expressway S.E., Albany, GA, 3 miles south of Proctor & Gamble on Hwy 19 South.  For additional information please call 436-2706, 886-4732, or email:  appleton@wic.net.  Note:  All pets must remain on a leash at all times and your pet's vaccinations must be current.

Show news:

Beginning in 2007 we made a significent upgrade to our grooming accomodations.  The grooming area has more than doubled in size from previous years and is conveniently located under the main show tent.  This upgrade will carry forward to the 2008 shows as well.  There will be electrical power available in the grooming area.
